GILBERTSON SCORES FIRST SUPER STOCK VICTORY
KAUKAUNA, Wis. (June 25, 2026) – A night of extended features for the support divisions saw some solid action on the quarter-mile as the Fox River Racing Club celebrated Veteran’s Night with L&W Supply this past Thursday.
In the Novus Auto Glass Super Stocks, Chuck Gilbertson Jr. soared to his first victory in the 30-lap main event. Gilbertson battled early with Larry Raygo then ran away from the field late in the going.
Raygo and Gilbertson started on the front row. After a tussle lasting four laps, it was Gilbertson who emerged as the leader. Behind them fast qualifier Josh Mueller was on the move, taking Fourth by lap six.
Nearing the halfway point Gilbertson continued to extend his lead as Raygo held off Ed Howard and Mueller in the battle for Second. Cody Vanderloop soon joined the mix and started to test the outside line.
Although he made some headway, Vanderloop was unable to make up the ground he needed. He eventually fell off the pace at the end of the race.
It proved to be Gilbertson’s night as he ran away from the field. Raygo held Second and Mueller inched past Howard for Third at the line.
THREE DIFFERENT WINNERS IN CROWN VIC TRIPLE HEADER
Due to track conditions deemed unsafe from persistent precipitation in the area over the week by the drivers of the Super Late Model and Pro Late Model divisions, the Crown Vics became the headlining class on the half-mile. They ran a trio of features that saw three different winners.
The first feature got off to a rough start when Bud Riedner was hooked and hit the back stretch wall, causing a lengthy red flag clean up. Once the racing got going, it was Jeff Danley who was in control.
Danley took the lead from Tyler Lind early in the first feature then held off late charges from Matt Torphy, Mitch Opsahl and Justin Woller to take the win. Becoming the first driver this season to beat Woller’s 44 car, Danley collected a nearly-$500 bounty.
In the second feature Mason Obermeyer wasted no time getting to the front of the field, going three wide at the start to capture the top spot. In short order, Woller caught up and looked to resume his dominance of the division.
However, Woller started to lose power late in the race and Obermeyer caught back up and passed him with three laps remaining. He went on to hold onto the lead until a yellow flag fell after the white, leading to the completion of the race.
Mitch Opsahl put on a dazzling performance in the third feature. David Hoernig led early with Danley closing in. However, Opsahl began to cruise around lap five and found himself in the lead. Despite having to survive a restart, it was Opsahl powering to the win for the first time in his own Crown Vic.
MASON CALMES BACK TO WINNING WAYS IN SPORT TRUCKS
After coming up just shy of the feature win last week, Mason Calmes found his way back to victory lane this week in the 20-lap Wisconsin Sport Truck feature.
Brooklyn Kelnhofer led early and brought Grant Gilbert along at the start. Gilbert took the lead on lap four, but last week’s winner Brady Vanderloop and Calmes were right behind. They soon swept past Gilbert.
The duo went toe-to-toe after a restart on lap seven. Vanderloop and Calmes exchanged the lead several times until Calmes secured it on lap 13. He then began to run away from the pack to build a healthy advantage. Behind him Kyle Quella made a late run to steal Second from Vanderloop at the checkered flag.
HUNGERFORD GETS IT DONE IN THE SIZZLIN’ 4S
The Roundabout Bar and Grill Sizzlin’ 4s also enjoyed some extra track time with a 30-lap feature. It was Mason Hungerford outdueling Connor McCormick to take the win.
Cole Trudeau led early with McCormick taking the lead on lap five. McCormick then went on to build a lead that stretched to nearly a straightaway over the pack. Just before a caution on lap 12, Hungerford had taken Second.
Hungerford swept past McCormick on the restart and held the lead as Jacoby Pollei, Tyler Veldman, and Jordan Fickel rounded out the Top Five. McCormick continued to hound Hungerford, but he could not find a way past. Hungerford held on for the win by a car length over McCormick. Jordan Fickel took Third late in the race and held the final podium spot.
VANDEWETTERING MAKES THE MOST OF RETURN TO FIGURE 8S
Craig Vandewettering would not be denied in his return to the Marty Nussbaum Racing Figure 8s. Vandewettering took the lead from Russ Lorbiecki on lap 10 of the 13-lap race and held him off until the checkered flag.
